Senior Scholar Athlete Spotlight - Sidh Nakka

Our next Senior Scholar Athlete Spotlight is on Sidh Nakka. Sidh has been a member of our Golf team for all 4 years of high school. His favorite memory as a Laker actually came during one of his worst rounds. He had five straight bogeys and then a double bogey, so at that point, things were not looking great. But on the second-to-last hole, he got my first-ever birdie sophomore year. He remembers literally jumping up and down like he had just won a major, even though his overall round was still pretty rough. That moment kind of sums up golf because you can be struggling all day, but all you need is that one good shot and it makes everything worth it. Next year, Sidh plans on studying at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, and he is hoping to continue playing through club golf. While he's excited for what’s ahead, he will miss the community at WBHS the most, especially being part of the golf team and athletics. He genuinely enjoyed the tournaments and matches, but also the little things, like carrying his golf bag across what felt like endless holes and courses. There’s something weirdly satisfying about walking a full 9 or 18, even when your scorecard isn’t exactly… impressive. Some of the best parts of the team weren’t even during competition. It was the time spent talking and laughing with teammates, and hearing Coach Armstrong give advice (and somehow always being patient, even when we probably didn’t deserve it). Those moments made the experience what it was. Congratulations Sidh! Go Lakers!!
